Exchanging glamor-filled days for a meaningful work-life balance
Molly spent many years as a lawyer for an international law firm. It was a fast-paced environment where she worked on famous (and infamous) projects with some talented people. Her job took her to the Supreme Court, super yachts, and more Michelin-starred restaurants than she could count. She wore Louboutin heels and pushed herself to the limits every day.
However, it was all getting too much, and although the pay was good, Molly knew it was time for a change. "I was expected to prioritize work over literally everything else in my life. One day I completed an electronic court filing from hospital. I couldn't imagine a healthy future there, so I quit just before the global COVID-19 pandemic."
As the world shuddered to a halt in March 2020, Molly took the downtime to reflect on what she wanted to do with her life. She knew that her passion lay in helping people and companies solve problems. When she met our Co-Founders and Co-CEOs, Guenther and Matt, she knew Omnipresent was the place for her. "I joined the Omnipresent Legal team in January 2021, and it's by far the best career decision I have ever made."
Now, Molly is thoroughly enjoying the freedoms associated with the flexibility of remote work. She can achieve the work-life balance she could only dream of in her previous jobs.
"My worth isn’t measured in billable increments of six minutes, but on my impact. I structure my day and workspace so that there is a mental and physical distinction between home and work. I try to get outside after finishing the day. It helps me wind down before jumping into 'mummy mode.’ I also build time to chat with my colleagues and check in, so we all feel supported."
And speaking of motherhood. Molly is incredibly proud of becoming a mother. "It is unspeakably exciting to grow and meet and shape this tiny person you know very well but also not at all."
Helping people and solving problems
As a senior lawyer, Molly uses her problem-solving skills and experience to help the business operate and grow while managing risk. And even in a relatively short time, she’s learned a lot.
"After 18 months in our Legal team during a time of hyper-growth, I can now confidently tackle almost any problem, and I never know what each day will bring. I love the variety of work. I help my clients solve problems every day and see the real life benefit of my advice. I also love the people I work with; we are truly global, and I am learning so much from my colleagues' varied backgrounds and ways of doing business."
It's not just personal satisfaction Molly gets from being a part of the Omnipresent team; she's truly excited by the opportunities Omnipresent delivers to organizations and people worldwide.
"Businesses are no longer limited or restricted to hiring local talent; now they can hire the best person for the job, wherever they're based. Omnipresent is helping to break down those barriers, so it's hugely satisfying work. We're helping companies grow while promoting diversity and equality in a very tangible way."
Pushing for positive social change
Molly has also been heavily involved in pro-bono work. Molly spent five years helping to collate data from multiple public authorities for the UK-wide Femicide census to bring the issue to everyone's attention and get legislation on it. Since then, she’s been working to change how authorities deal with violence against women and girls.
"Working at Omnipresent enables me to spend more time helping others. I'm really proud of the work I've been doing to help create a safer environment for women across the UK. Using my legal skills to support the community is one of my proudest achievements."
